An Invitation

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year,” at least that’s what the classic holiday song says. But sometimes we feel burdened or stressed at Christmas time and just can’t seem to feel the joy of the season. We look at smiling faces and feel jealous, distant, or alone. For all these “down” times, we offer the space and time to acknowledge such feelings and concerns.

Our “Service of Hope, Remembrance, & Renewal” is about transforming our hurts, burdens, cares, and stresses into light and hope. It is about scheduling “time out” to acknowledge where we are in our life struggles and lift them up to Jesus as we seek to connect with the hope, renewal, and peace of His birth.

Faith Community Bible Church extends an open invitation to join us in a time of peace, prayer, scripture, music and lighting remembrance candles to acknowledge that God’s love and presence continues with us even as we struggle.

Who is this service for?

The service is for people of all ages who prayerfully wish to address the stresses and mixed emotions felt in the midst of anticipated holiday celebrations or traditions. These feelings may be due to recent losses, burdens of caregiving, broken relationships, loneliness, insecurity of the future, weariness of ill health, challenging life circumstances or because a friend or loved one is no longer with you to share Christmas joy.

What do we do at this special service?

We gather together to bring our feelings, hurts, burdens and sadness to the Lord through this contemplative service of “Hope, Remembrance & Renewal.” Scripture, remembrance candles, reflective music, prayer, and meditative time help us transform from what is amiss to opening ourselves to the presence of Jesus in our world and His hope, love, peace, and light that shines into our darkness.

We light Advent candles and individual candles to remember those whom we have loved, lost, and cared for as we seek peace to redeem our pain or stress and prayerfully care for ourselves this Christmas Season. We remember Jesus who gives us the gift of hope and renewal that the Christmas story offers us.

Fellowship

The service is followed by a time of fellowship. Please feel free to invite family, friends, and others you now who may be experiencing conflicting moods or need a time for peace and prayer.
